I was scouted by a company in a neighboring state (240 miles away). I have extensive experience with their type of products and they’ve scheduled a second interview. My family cannot afford to move without some type of relocation assistance. This isn’t a huge company, but they have very high revenue for their size, meaning I don’t think it would be a hardship for them. Am I in a good position to leverage for relocation assistance?

cammie asked:

This is a what if scenario: I interview for a position that is located in a city that is 900 miles away. I get offered the position. When do you think they would expect me to start? I know that I would have to pack up and move. If they offer relocation assistance, would that effect the date of the first day on the job? What type of relocation assistance do most companies offer? What if you own a home that may take a long time to sell? Thanks in advance for as much information as possible!

I haven’t had much luck finding a good career starting job in my immediate area. I’m trying to save up to leave but I’m afraid it may not be enough. Does anyone know which companies are good places to start a new career that may assist me should relocation be necessary?
